Bogotá, 15 sep (EFE).- Mario Yepes, former Colombian footballer, will gather legends like Radamel Falcao García and Carlos 'el Pibe' Valderrama in a solidarity match on Friday in Bogotá after the August 10 earthquake. The event, called 'Levantemos a Colombia', will be held at Estadio El Campín and sold out in 48 hours. Yepes, 50, highlighted that the event aims to support affected families: 'Everything raised will go to them'.

Participants and technical directors

The match will feature 36 players, including Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Camilo Zúñiga, Faryd Mondragón, and Giovanni Moreno. Also playing will be John Javier 'Choronta' Restrepo, Cristian Zapata, and Fredy Guarín. Technical directors will be Francisco 'Pacho' Maturana and René Higuita, who 'can also play a bit', explained Yepes.

Initiative after the earthquake

Yepes, from Cali (one of the most affected cities), explained the idea arose after seeing the earthquake's consequences: 'We know how to do it: play football'. The ex-captain of the 2014 World Cup team assured that 'absolutely everyone' his colleagues accepted participation. The earthquake left 319 dead, 260 missing, and 4,506 injured, according to Ungrd.
