A veteran known to the Federation
The possibility of Reyes joining Lorenzo's coaching staff is not far-fetched. The Barranquilla coach has extensive knowledge of the Colombian Football Federation due to his involvement in different youth selection processes and previous experience with the national team.
This experience, combined with his knowledge of Colombian football and a significant number of players currently involved in the Colombia national team process, makes Reyes a profile that aligns well with the Federation's desire for continuity following Perea's departure.
If he were to take over, Reyes would assume the position left vacant by the former defender who decided to return to club football to start a new cycle at Independiente Medellín.
A present generating doubts
However, the possible appointment has also sparked questions. Currently, Arturo Reyes leads Deportivo Pereira, a team that is not currently in its best sporting form and whose results have been far from expectations.
Several sectors of Colombian football recall his last international experience with Sport Boys, which did not end well, and consider that his current work at Pereira has not justified his call to the national team.
Criticism also targets his time at Junior de Barranquilla. Although he won a title with the club, some analysts argue that he inherited a solid base and that the team's performance subsequently declined significantly.
