Team Makeup: The Colombian women's under-19 underwater hockey team involves players from a variety of cities in Colombia. Approximately eight-thirteenths of the team are from Galápagos Antioquia, with four coming from other two clubs: Cardumen and Aletas.
The Team Process: Through strenuous efforts and discipline on behalf of team members, this under-19 sub-association triumphantly achieved their goal. Financial hardships impeded the players – and trainers including Freddy Miranda as Galápagos Manager – from receiving appropriate financial support to participate in sporting events.
Underwater hockey involves both teams with six players in each segment underwater; they must propel a disk using paddles across two sections of water. The remaining team members serve as spectators, responsible for moving the disk towards an opposition goal if necessary – hence, scoring points toward victory.
Instituted Support: The Galápagos Antioquia-based team competed in the championship event held in Gebze, Turkey and demonstrated the potential to be reached thorough diligence of effort and dedication.
The group's management was also significantly supported by another mother, Paola Blandón with her children. She details how many families (parents) involved within this sports association have joined together in order to assist each other through mutual support networks: one member selling coffee-related products and fellow players helping others sell or distribute fresh fruits.
Championship World Result: Despite receiving modest financial assistance, the Galápagos Antioquia team won at their final match by a score of 1-0 against New Zealand.
